Welcome to my classic ragtime piano website.
This site includes lots of information on ragtime piano with links to ragtime
sheet music in the public domain. In addition, I hope to shortly add
a number of live .MP3
ragtime recordings by me of featured rags.
Set out below are links to short
essays I have written on various themes related to ragtime piano. At
each link is detailed information about the topic, along with links to
the sheet music for rags that are in the public domain.
There is
also a separate page of
sources of print and online ragtime sheet music
and other ragtime-related information. Although there are only
fourteen active links below, I hope to eventually add more essays
along with various .MP3 recordings.
- Food and Ragtime
(featuring The Oyster Rag (1910) by Tom Lyle and other
food-related rags)
- Ragtime Waltzes
(featuring Springtime of Love Valse (1919) by James
Scott and other waltzes from the ragtime era)
- Rare
Rags
(featuring hard to locate ragtime sheet music)
I hope to add additional essays in
the very near future on the following ragtime composers or topics:
Eubie Blake, Percy Wenrich, Harry J. Lincoln,
novelty piano, the ragtime revivalists, ragging the classics, and tango influence in
ragtime music.
